The project’s scope of work consists of a natural gas-fired 300 MW combined cycle power plant integrated with a 1,500 cubic meters per hour seawater reverse osmosis (RO) desalination plant located at Duqm Special Economic Zone, Duqm, Al Wusta, Oman. The project includes a marine intake structure, seawater pumping station, seawater supply, return channels and beach well system.

Project activities are divided into three parts which are defined as follows:
Raw water intake capacity 2.000 m3/h with transmission main DN600, 1.700 m1 to WTP, Water Treatment Plant (WTP), rapid sand filter process, capacity of 2.000 m3/h, Pumping station, transmission main DN800, 5.600 m1 to existing water reservoir on Mandalay Hill including remediation work on the reservoir itself.
The project aims to provide a reliable and sustainable public water service in Mandalay. The project, which results from a feasibility study is co-financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD).

Project activities are divided into three parts which are defined as follows:
• Part 1: As-Samra Mono Landfill Construction
• Part 2: Wadi Al Arab and Irbid Central WWTPs
• Part 3: Final Treatment Station
The first investment will be in Part 1 to construct Mono Landfill in As-Samra WWTP followed by Part 2; fetching upgrade of existing Central Irbid and Wadi Al Arab WWTP in order to improve the sludge treatment and disposal along with increasing the quality of effluent. Part 3 will present the last stage of investment and will fetch the Final Treatment Station (FTS) to increase the quality of the effluent to satisfy agricultural use standards.
